Taking care of Jewellery
OUR MISSION
We are extremely serious about self-care at Yoj. Taking time for yourself, your mental health and well-being can involve physical activities such as exercising, taking regular breaks throughout the day, eating healthy and nutritious meals, and getting enough sleep. It can also include emotional activities such as spending time with people you love and making sure you take time to relax.
Taking care of your YOJ gold plated and silver plated jewellery is essential for maintaining its beauty. All of our YOJ sterling silver jewellery is rhodium-plated, providing a layer of protection that minimises long-term tarnishing. It's important to note that your jewellery is susceptible to damage from chemicals present in products like perfume, hairspray, makeup, nail polish remover, body oils, sun tan lotion, and deodorant. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause gemstones to fade and lose their colour, so avoid keeping your jewellery in direct sunlight. To keep your jewellery looking its best, it's important to store it properly, clean it regularly and avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals. Following these simple steps will help you take the best care of your gold and silver plated jewellery.
Always store your jewellery pieces individually, preferably in your YOJ box or pouch so that they don’t rub together, scratch or tangle.
To take care of your gold and silver plated jewellery, follow these steps:
1. Store your jewellery properly - Keep your plated jewellery in a dry, clean environment when it is not being worn. Store it in a soft cloth pouch or wrapped in tissue paper to prevent it from being scratched.
2. Clean regularly - Use a soft cloth or lint-free cloth and a mild soap and warm water. Avoid using harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaning materials.
3. Avoid exposure to harsh elements - Take care to avoid contact with chemical cleaning agents, creams, perfumes and hairsprays, as these can cause the plating to tarnish or corrode.
4. Polish with a jewellery polishing cloth - Using this cloth will help to keep your jewellery looking shiny and new.
HOW SHOULD I CLEAN MY JEWELLERY?
To keep your jewellery shiny, it's important to clean it carefully using a soft, non-abrasive, and lint-free cloth or chamois. In case of stubborn dirt, you can use mild washing-up liquid with warm water and a soft toothbrush, then rinse it with clean water and pat it dry with a soft cloth. Avoid using 'dip' polish or abrasive jewellery cleaners, as they contain harsh chemicals that can damage your jewellery over time.
